When you create an account on Fregate, we collect:

Email address — used for authentication, password reset, and account communication.
Portfolio data — transactions, watchlist items, and notes you voluntarily enter.

We do not collect your name, phone number, physical address, payment information, or any financial account credentials.

2. How We Use Your Data

To authenticate you and maintain your session.
To display your portfolio, analysis, and watchlist.
To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset).

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on a self-hosted server located in Canada. We use:

HTTPS encryption for all data in transit (TLS 1.2+).
PostgreSQL with parameterized queries to prevent SQL injection.
Encrypted backups (AES-256).
Authentication via Supabase Auth with email verification.

4. Third-Party Services

Supabase Auth (authentication only) — processes your email and password for login. Supabase Privacy Policy.
Yahoo Finance (via yfinance) — we fetch public market data. No personal data is sent to Yahoo.

We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal data to any other third party.

5. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data (profile, transactions, watchlist) is permanently deleted.

7. Your Rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Delete your account and all associated data.
Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
